Distillery Tours
Downtown Hermann
Step Inside
Located in the heart of historic Hermann, Lionheart Whiskey Co. operates out of a building listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It’s a structure that has witnessed generations of commerce, craft, and community.
Today, that legacy continues through our American whiskey.
Our guided distillery tour offers an in-depth look at how we craft our spirits inside walls that have stood the test of time.
Distillery Tour
What to Expect
Hermann is known for its deep roots as a wine town and German-American architectural charm. Our building, which we purchased in April of 2026, reflects that same spirit of endurance and integrity.
Your experience includes:
- A guided look inside our working production room
- Insight into our contracted distillation and aging process
- The story behind Lionheart and the heart of our brand
- A curated tasting of select Lionheart spirits
- A hands-on lesson in crafting the perfect Old Fashioned cocktail
- Time to ask questions, shop bottles and enjoy the tasting room afterward
About the Tour
Tours are designed to be both educational and immersive — ideal for whiskey enthusiasts, curious newcomers, and those who appreciate heritage craftsmanship. You do not need to be a whiskey expert or even know whether you like rye yet. The tour is designed to be approachable for curious beginners and interesting enough for experienced whiskey drinkers. While the equipment is modern, the structure itself carries over a century of character. Original elements remain intact, offering guests an authentic backdrop for the Lionheart distillery tour experience.

Awesome experience, Brandi not only served us but helped us understand how the drinks are made and what goes into the process… awesome place, will definitely return!
Hermann is lovely. Lionheart Whiskey Co. is an absolutely highlight of the town….the atmosphere compliments the amazing quality of the liquor served. An absolute must visit!
If you are in the area, this distillery is a must-visit. We visited most distilleries in the area, this is the best. The drinks are amazing and [the team] is awesome!
Frequently Asked Questions
About Our Tours
Can I do a tasting without the tour?
Sure! Flights are available on their own. We also have an extensive cocktail menu and offer neat pours.
Do I need a reservation?
Walk-ins are welcome during our regular tour season. Groups of six or more should contact us in advance. We do highly encourage advance tickets for Friday and Saturday tours during Oktoberfest.
How big are the tours?
Tours seat up to 12 guests. Groups of six or more should contact us in advance so we can prepare for your visit.
Do you have to be 21+ to go on the tour?
No. Guests must be of legal drinking age to enjoy the flight that comes with a tour. We charge per flight, so children are free.
Each tour has a limited number of seats, so please inquire if you plan to bring a large group.
How long should I plan for?
The tour experience is 45 minutes long. We recommend planning at least an hour so you can arrive 5 minutes early to get checked in, use the restroom, and give yourself a little leeway to finish your tasting without feeling rushed.
Unless we’re just crazy busy, you’re also welcome to hang out and stay a while to sample other cocktails or browse the retail shop. Our staff will let you know if we have a large group coming in behind your tour.
Can we split a flight?
Yes, you can choose to split a flight. We recommend no more than two people per flight so you each can enjoy the pours neat and opened up multiple times. We don’t divide the pours into separate glasses, so you’ll be sharing glassware. Pick your partner accordingly.
Can I bottle my own whiskey?
Not at this time. Bottling is handled by our trained production team, but the tour gives you a close look at how our spirits are selected, blended, proofed, finished, and bottled in Hermann.
Will I see the still?
No, because we contract distillation—meaning we do not currently have a still on site. Our core mashbill is distilled in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, to our specifications. The barrels age for at least five years before arriving at our Hermann distillery, where we select, blend, finish, proof and bottle our spirits depending on the expression.
You will, however, see our ~560 sq ft production room where all the magic happens.
Can we take photos during the tour?
Yes, casual photos are welcome. Please be considerate of other guests and follow any instructions from your tour host while inside the production area.
If you’d like to plan an editorial photoshoot and interview, please contact Marie or Clayton to schedule.
If you’d like to schedule time on our property for your own professional photos or video, please contact Clayton to be considered.
Do you have food availble?
Our tasting flight that is included on the tour consists of 2 neat pours and a mini Old Fashioned. Technically the cocktail has a cherry and slice of dehydrated orange, but we wouldn’t really call that food.
We do have a variety of packaged snacks available which change from season to season. So you won’t starve or have a hangry friend on your hands.
Ask our team about upcoming pairing events or nearby dining options.
Do you offer corporate retreats or private events?
Yes! Contact us to reserve a time for your corporate event, wedding party, or special group.
We have the most flexibility on Wednesdays and Thursdays when our shop is less busy, but we may be able to accommodate other plans—just ask!
Celebrating something big? Ask us about our barrel pick program!
Where should we park?
Street parking is available throughout the historic district near Lionheart. Give yourself a few extra minutes during busy weekends and special events, when parking may be more limited. You also have the option to leave your vehicle at your hotel or suite and request a shuttle, trolley, or private driver to bring you over to our property downtown.
Is the tour accessible?
Our tasting room has 4 steps and a large threshold to get in. The production area is street-level but there is not a clear and consistent path for wheelchairs. Please call or text us before your visit if anyone in your group has mobility concerns or needs additional accommodations, and we’ll help you plan the best possible experience.
What happens if we’re late for our tour?
Please arrive about five minutes before your scheduled tour so we can get everyone checked in and begin on time. If you’re running late, call or text us as soon as possible. We’ll do our best to accommodate you, but late arrivals may need to join a later tour if space is available.
What is your cancellation policy?
If your plans change, please contact us as soon as possible so we can release your seats to another group. Policies for prepaid tours, private events and Oktoberfest reservations may vary.
