HERMANN, MO — [June 11, 2025] — A family-owned distillery in the heart of Missouri has just earned global recognition.
Lionheart Whiskey Co., located in historic downtown Hermann, has won three awards from the internationally respected New
York International Spirits Competition, placing it among the top emerging craft distilleries in the world.
This award joins a wave of recent recognition for Missouri distilleries, reinforcing the region’s emergence as a destination for
premium spirits and thoughtful craftsmanship.
Lionheart’s Single Barrel Rye Whiskey earned a distinguished 95 rating and a gold medal, while the Small Batch Rye Whiskey
followed closely with a 93 and a silver medal. Rounding out the trio, the newest release—Coalesce Bourbon and Rye, a blend of
straight whiskeys—scored a 91 and took home bronze.
All three expressions are available across Missouri at select grocers, liquor stores, and on the shelves of restaurants proud to serve
local excellence.
Approaching their third year open to the public, Lionheart Whiskey Co. has quickly become a must-visit for whiskey lovers and
curious travelers alike boasting five star reviews for their welcoming ambiance and Old Fashioned. The tasting room offers
immersive tasting tours, seasonal craft cocktails, and now—flights and world-class pours with international acclaim.
To celebrate, Lionheart is launching a new tasting experience, the Founder’s Flight (aka the Neat Flight): a curated trio of their finest whiskeys, hand-selected by founder Clayton Newell. The flight reflects the brand’s mission to build something bigger than a business—a legacy
of intentional craft, courageous heart, and bold flavors.
“This is about more than whiskey,” says Newell. “It’s about building something that reflects our values—courage, craftsmanship,
and community. We started Lionheart to create meaningful experiences, not just great spirits, and this award feels like proof the
world sees what we’re pouring into it. Missouri has something truly special, and we’re proud to be part of it.”
Lionheart’s award comes at a time when Hermann is seeing increased tourism interest as a weekend getaway for food, wine, and
craft spirits. With its blend of rural charm and modern hospitality, Lionheart Whiskey Co. is quickly becoming one of the
region’s most talked-about experiences.
